The owner of Active Energy Engineering showed up on time and was extremely friendly. He was also quite knowledgeable and did a thorough assessment of our home while explaining the processes and potential resolutions to improving the energy efficiency of our 14-year old home. He followed-up with a written report that he delivered to me in person where we discussed a proposal to tackle the recommendations provided.
My Wife and I would highly recommend others to call Active Energy Engineering. I do not feel the assessment was merely an avenue to pitch follow-on services. John really seemed passionate about his line of work and was interested in helping us save on multiple energy costs. In fact, he highlighted a couple of areas that would have been extremely costly and suggested we not have those findings completed. He also did a blower door test to see where the house was leaking air. In the end, we received a large rebate due to following many of the provided energy saving suggestions; one which was the upgrade from our 14 year old 80% efficient rated furnace to a 97.6% efficient rated furnace that included a 10 year warranty.
We highly recommend these guys and with the utility and federal rebates and tax breaks you get for making energy improvements to your home, their work will pay for itself very quickly!!

We recently had Active Energy Engineering (AEE) come to our home to do an energy audit for us. The audit provided much more than what we expected. The auditor spent hours at our home and encouraged us to be right by him while he went through every part of both the inside and outside of our home. He conducted several tests to ensure our furnace and hot water heater were not producing carbon monoxide and were drafting properly. He also used numerous instruments to test for air leakage. During this testing, he found several weak locations in our home and provided multiple methods to fix them. The nice thing was that he explained in detail everything he was doing and why.
Within a few days after he was done we received a very detailed report that offered numerous measures that we could do to improve our homes efficiency. Each measure listed the details, cost, the available rebates, a calculated return on investment timeframe, and if he recommended we do it or not. We thought this was very helpful because it allowed us to make better educated decisions. Thanks AEE for helping us save money on our utilities.

I called Active Energy Engineering out to my house because we had two rooms that were always cold in the winter and hot in the summer. In addition to this, I was considering getting a new furnace and the rebates were much higher if you had a comprehensive audit done. It ended up being one of the best calls I have made. Active Energy Engineering came out and calculated exactly how much airflow each room in my house needs. They optimized all the other rooms which allowed for more airflow to my two trouble rooms.
The auditor informed me that my furnace was sized to almost 2x the size it needed to be and that it was costing me significantly more than needed to operate. He ended up taking detailed measurements of the entire house and conducted an analysis to identify how big of a furnace and air conditioner I really needed. I ended up getting the furnace and air conditioner he recommended. I am glad I did because it has saved me a lot of money already and I received hundreds of dollars off because of the available utility rebates.
Needless to say, I am very happy with my decision to have them come out.

Soon after moving into our new home and paying a few months of utility bills, we thought it might be a good idea to get some help to make our home more energy efficient. The equipment the house came with was old, but we did not know if it made sense to replace it. We found Active Energy Engineering online and gave them a call. They came out and were professional and very personable. They encouraged us to take part in the detailed audit. During this time they discovered our old furnace was actually leaking gas and carbon monoxide. They also helped us identify all of our homes air leaks.
The nice part was they did not just try to sell us equipment. They provided the ROI math on new HVAC equipment, which helped us to make a better decision. The auditor actually recommended we only get the furnace and not the air conditioner because only the furnace made sense in our situation. He explained that the furnace alone would not significantly reduce our bills. We also took his air sealing recommendations. As a result of this audit, we are safer, more efficient, and have a house that is well sealed. He was also able to get us hundreds back in rebates for doing all these measures.
